All Night Flea Market - Wheaton, IL

So I have been searching Illinois for their flea markets. I love my little flea here in M.O., but I can't take it with me right. I found this one listed below. It is in Wheaton, IL . It's an all nighter. WOW..... would I be falling asleep while shopping. I never can stay up past 11:00. If you have attended this flea please drop me a note. I would love to meet people in the Chicago Land area that enjoy flea markets as much as I do.... Maybe we can get together and attend.

too busy to play

I have been toooo busy to play that I have not had a chance to take new pics or even make anything. Well I really can't create much because most of my stuff has been packed away.

If you live in MO there are a few events that are coming that are worth your time. The GYPSY Caravan is coming I believe on May 26th and also the beautiful garden/antique show in Maeystown IL is right around the corner May 4th I believe. I have been saving my money for that. Last year it was really beautiful so I believe it should be even better this year. My favorite little store in St. Charles will have a spot there and I love all her shabby decor. Blossom's favorite show I believe her son said. Well worth the 45 to 1 hour drive.

Hopefully soon I will be able to take some new pics. I am getting antsy, but there is tons of stuff to be packed.

Hope you had a wonderful Easter. Many blessings to you and yours.

Sincerely,

Angelica

Lovely

I bought this old bottle with this beautiful image on it at the flea a week or two ago. I love it. Just wanted to give you a head up on my move. I guess I will be leaving MO the first week of June. it's offical. Husband starts soon and I will stick around with my children to the end of the school year. Hopefully I will get to see a few of you before I leave. I guess it's all happening. Never thought that I would ever be going back home. I always thought that I would be going home as an elderly woman or in my casket.

Thank you GOD for this wonderful surprise.

on the edge

Wow am I tired and I have just started packing. I have been in this house for 11 years and really did not think I had so much but now that I have started to dig through layers of stuff gosh am I ready to just forget about moving. Well I really can't because the job has been accepted by my hubby. Packing is not easy and not fun. In a way I am glad that I am doing this because I am ready to give a bunch of stuff away. Donate, give away and maybe have a garage sale or two. Believe me I would rather be out there having fun or creating a thing or two, but this has to be done and it will probably take over my free time for the next couple of months. So I thought I would post this pic I took recently to show you how on the edge I have been lately. I will be so happy when we are finally moved and settled in.

There is no place like HOME!

Yes, the news is out.... CHICAGO here I come. St. Louis has been very good to me and my family of four. It's bittersweet, but GOD has decided that it's time to go home. I left Chicago 12 years ago. Had never left home before. I was excited to lead a new life happily married, free from my past and in love. A new beginning. To be honest it took me a while to get used to living in MO. I was a city girl. South Side Girl. Yes it was tough, but time passed and I began to love my life here as well. When my husband got a call a couple months ago asking him to interview for this new position I was shocked. Chicago.... You mean moving back HOME!....The home that I left 12 years ago. Back to the families and friends we left behind. YES of course....but when the news starts settling in your brain and the tears come...... why now? why now? What is ahead for us? Why are we going back now?

Don't get me wrong, I am happy to be going and I thank GOD everyday. There is a little part of me that wonders why now? I am not the same person I used to be. Will they like me? I have been away so long. Can I be a city girl again? Can I handle family problems? Will my friends like me as they used to before.

I am not that same girl that left Chicago back in 97. The girl that was never away from her element. The independent girl, the dancer, the rebel.

I am coming home a woman and I am bringing with me a family of four along with a dog. I am coming home a grown up girl that enjoys peace and spending time at home. I am coming home a soccer mom. A woman that has to deal with anxiety because sometimes she wears her heart on her sleeve and can't handle the stress of life.

My husband says this is a new chapter of our lives. YES it is I say........

So I tell you THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME! YES I am going back HOME.

Is this shabby or what.

I love this... it's a little glass table that I have in my living room. I don't know who were the original owners or if it's even from someone here in the US. I bought this maybe a year ago at my favorite little store in Old St. Charles. It's shabbyness at it's finest.

beautifully chipped!

a few flea market finds

just wanted to share a few things that I purchased at my local flea. this past weekend was the date when usually all the outside vendors start coming to sell. plus the weather was wonderful. can you believe it was 80 and today it has been snowing all day practically. Well, let me get back to what I was blogging about. I scored a beautiful photo album filled with wonderful pictures from I believe maybe the 1920s to 1930s. As soon as I opened it and saw all the wonderful pics, I knew this was not going to stay behind. I will post another picture soon that is one of my most favorites. You will love it as well.

I also ran into a lady that was selling tons of buttons and old keys. these are a few of the buttons I purchased. I love the old buttons with bling the most. I had a great time. my son always goes with me. it's our special time. at 10 he enjoys going to the flea. I grew up going to the markets in Chicago with my parents. I am very happy that my son is enjoying attending as well. call it a family tradition. I will post more pics of some other great finds.

1900 Journal

about two or three months ago, at an auction, I won a box that contained this wonderful journal. I did not know it was in there. two ladies approached me wanting the journal, but I did not sell it. it is very interesting. it's basically contains information of Mr. Woodard's life and struggles here in St. Louis back in the 1900s. he wrote about the big fire that took place in downtown St. Louis. he wrote about an Admiral Dewey and his wife. he also mentioned his struggles with work and how much he would make which if I remember correctly I think he said his weekly wages were around $15.00 to $16.00. he then would send some of this money to a woman named Anna. he mentioned his wheels which I believe he was referring to his bike.

I went to get it appraised today to see if it had any value and it does not. even though it has no monetary value it's a treasure to me. Mr. Woodard only wrote in this journal for six months. Jan to June and then there was no more........

I wish I would know more about him. did he go back home? did he stay and live here the rest of his life. the last comments he entered were that he had gotten sick. I hope nothing terrible happened to him, but I will never know...................

Lost and then found

New millinery hat that was just added to my collection. I love it's green velvet ribbon. Plus the cute strawberries. Flea market starts tomorrow. It's supposed to be a nice day. I am so excited. I heard that St. Charles, IL has a toooo die for flea market. If we move to Chicago, we will be moving close to that area. O'Hare airport is what we are thinking. I also know that there is one in Sandwich, IL. I will miss my flea market here for sure since I already have befriended some vendors. I hope you enjoy these pics of some of my recent finds.
